Tourist in my own town - days 5 & 6

While I was working on the morning of this fifth day Good Half took our friend to the beach. How unfair life sometimes is...
After some shopping on the afternoon they crossed the river into Lisbon.

I picked them up at the boat station and we went to enjoy the view from Senhora do Monte, one of the highest points in Lisbon.

Later we went to Alfama, the oldest part of town, there she saw how some parts of our city are not all that beautiful.

Walking those narrow streets sometimes you come to very wide spaces that were we in June would be filled with people music and food, for Lisbon Saint's festivities.

Fortunately some of the old buildings have already undergone reconstruction and in that neighborhood you can find several nice places to spend the evening in front of a nice meal...

By then it was time to treat her to a nice dinner in a Fado house, so she could listen to a great performance of several Fado singers.

By the end of the night one of the things she was amazed with was the fact she had been "walking on art" for most of the day...

The sixth day we all managed to go to the beach, by the end of the day we went to Bairro Alto, another traditional district, to have dinner. We finished the day in the docks, listening to more music and having some drinks.

I feel like a broken record, but all the pictures you've shown are beautiful.

tacit: For me it has both a bitter taste and a hint of hope, I've seen that neighborhood in better and in worst days, the fact that they are rebuilding it (slowly as it is) gives me hope for better days.

ale: And it was quite a chatter, with one table of Brits and another of Belgians, all drinking as much as they could as usual, I had chosen another place for dinner.

bent: Thank you. Again. ;)
