OH! I just love it!

Don't you hate when people say this just to look nice?
Don't you hate when people say they love a book, a painting, friends cookings, whatever, when they actually do not like it?
I hate fake people.
The best I can do out of diplomacy is to shut up.
But don't push it, don't ask for my opinion.
Because if you do, that is what you will get: my opinion.
New hair cut that makes you look like a poodle?
A recipe that tastes worst than pre-cooked ready to nuke single person kind of food?
The awful short story no editor accepts?
The terrible photo you call artistic but really sucks?
The terrible noise you claim to be your music?
People who can’t handle the answers should do themselves a favor and ask someone else.

I don't like them too and I'm trying to be as honest as it is possible, but: what should I do if my mother asks me if the meal is good and it's not? She always overcooks noodles for chicken soup and it's tasteless then and I'm always telling her it has no taste and she is sad then...
It depends on people for me... and on the case.

I would probably be completely full when visiting Mom's house, unless of course you live there. Then maybe offer to cook a time or two yourself. My mom wasn't a great cook either, always loved to have stuff floating around in pools of grease and fatback. (its a wonder I'm not obese or dead) Anyway, I hate fakers too. I often keep my comments to myself as mom did teach me this. If you have nothing good to say, please don't say anything. You know I think you just gave me my next post. D, I'm biting off your blog today and carrying this fake thing to another level...lol

I LOVE YOU! Your honesty makes you truly unique. I believe wholeheartedly that everyone is entitled to their own opinion. If your opinion happens to differ from mine (i.e. you think your flabby noodle chicken soup actually tastes good), I give you the leaway to go on believing it. So much for candor.

what do you think is WORSE-
people that are fake and say they "love it" when they actually dont- or those that will find someway to turn it around and see something good in your "project" ??

like you show them an ugly photo and instead of saying- "i love it" they'll say- "waw that's GREAT that you are excersising your creative side!!" by passing actually commenting on the ugly photo but at the same time giving you a complement.

personally i HATE those people even more-

Yup, my rule is don't ask a question to which you really don't want an answer. I'm with Shyha though, some situations call for a little fibbing. Like when my friend was in the hospital and she asked if she looked like ass. Instead of saying yes I simply said, well, you don't look bad. Which was kind of a half truth.

Btw, I think you'd be hard-pressed to find someone who says they love fake people. ;)

Can I go off-topic? What am I saying. I do anyway. Ok, I noticed you posted IMG_041 in your sidebar. Whenever I browse your photos, it is the one I return to the most. I love the composition, the monochromatic tone. So soothing, yet spicily unpredictible. The tree not only breaks the monotony of the color scheme, but splinters the view, creating visual interest that would not otherwise be there. If you were ever interested in selling a print of it, I'd LOVE to have it framed and hanging where I could look at it often.

Right on! I hate fake people too. That's why I never bother to ask people what they think of my new hair cut. When I just recently quit my old job I didn't tell any of my co-workers (except for my boss, of course) because I didn't want to have to hear the "Oh, we're going to miss you" crap. Because I knew it wasn't true. So I just left quietly. I know it really pissed people off...but I simply did not care.

I am often criticized for being negative. To be honest it's because I tell it like it is. I was always the negative team member at my old job because I would speak up when things weren't working out. I find that especially Americans do not like it when you're loud and vocal about the way things are.

Yeah, leave us alone with all that "reality" crap. We prefer our dose of "reality" in half-hour increments with the bad guy getting voted off the island at the end.

Shyha: Yup, I know what you mean. Sometimes we do have to give in to a little lie for the sake of someone's feelings.

icylyrics: glad to be of assistance, though the career as 'muse' never seemed like an option before

bunnyjo: you made me remember a sentence from one of Quino's cartoons:"the same way I don't like a lot of people there may be a lot of idiots who don't like me". Regarding the photo, that is one of the two photos that are Good Half's and not mine. But she has a great soul. You would want to print it and keep just for yourself, right? Oh, and sidebar pictures are randomly sorted on every page load.

ale: It depends on the intentions of the person doing the comment

bent: I already admitted to Shyha he is right, and I can do it again! And yes, you are also right in your last sentence, even the most fake person would swear to hate fake people

jane: that's not an 'American feature', I afraid that applies all over the globe, most people prefer a beautiful lie than the crude reality

DCvR, correct. I would only want to frame it and put it somewhere I could look at it often. I really, really like it. Tell your better half that I'm a fan!

I agree with Quino. Obviously a wise cartoon.

Yeah, it depends on the situation, the person.

If the question is about a bad haircut, I'd give some half hearted answer.

I can be painfully honest, but sometimes, what's a bit of a white lie, people's feelings matter more to me, and what the heck, hair grows back!

If it's about creative work I'd give my all though.

GG: White lies are a part of life, if we weren't to lie a bit at times how could we make a nice surprise to someone we love? But you know what I meant.

tacit: For better and for worst. The good news being you don't have to care about my opinion. ;)
