A great man was lost
Some of you may remember a post where I mentioned Mr. Robin Cook.
Well, today was this great man's funeral.
A great loss to his family and his friends.
A great loss to all his countrymen for they loose an honest politician and we all know how that is hard to come by.
A great loss to mankind for his was one of the last influential voices of reason.

No, different person same name.
We are living in an era where everything has a global impact. A global view is mandatory to understand what is going on, sometimes even when something doesn't seem to affect us directly. I am Portuguese, I live in Portugal. What do I care? A lot. UK is part of the EU. We use oil. We import and export stuff. We are not alone. Their politics affect us the same way US, China or even Iran politics do.
Sometimes 'nerdy' activities are what separates real people from the 'herd'.
Robin Cook is to be admired. He had the guts to stand up to something he knew was wrong and then resign in protest over his country's misguided foreign policies. I invite all to read this excellently composed
article from today's New York Times. This viewpoint could not be expressed better. And I'm sure Robin Cook would agree, from wherever he is.
kris: thank you so much for that link I wouldn't have read that otherwise and it would be my loss.
He wrote so well what all of us are thinking but can't express nearly as well. The sad conclusion though is that we are still stuck with this guy in the WH for another three years. Scary.
