Jardim do Torel

One of my favorite gardens in Lisbon. Although located in the center of town it is rather secluded, it has plenty of shade and a nice view.
This is a bit like the lull before the storm, the next few weeks will be total madness, getting things ready for my holidays (no work can be left undone, there is no way I can get away from the lab leaving loose ends for others to finish so if it can't wait for me to get back it must be over before my leave), getting yours truly to the new place, getting the old place ready for selling.
The holidays won't be much fun either, getting new documents with the new address, getting the place perfect for GH's arrival, trying to sell the old place...
By the way, the old place is now officially for sale, so if any of you is considering buying a three bedroom apartment just across the river from Lisbon the price is 125000 euros€.
There will be another issue that is slightly troublesome for me:transferringg my phone and DSL service to the new place, it will probably mean a couple of weeks without broadband...

Moving to a new house is about the biggest self-induced headache there could ever possibly be. I just did it myself last fall, and I plan to stay put UNTIL THE DAY I DIE.

Hang in there, buddy. Just remember that it is a finite headache.

funny how different people approach the "relocating" issue. i love moving houses. In my 30 years i have lived in 15 houses!!! And we plan to move to another house and another country before the end of the year! I actually get bored after 1 year in the same house. It is also a great way to get rid of junk. We are 100% junk free :)
Happy moving - plenty of headache for sure, but hope it is worth it.

3 bedrooms for 125,000 Euro. WOW.

A studio in Manhattan goes for about 400,000 USD now.

chill daddy: Thanks. I'm in no hurry and that helps, it would be a lot worst should I have less time to do it all.

nyasha: You're nuts! Except for the part about loosing junk... ;)

vesparosso: Big wallet you have there... :)

phoenix: Prices in Lisbon are much higher than in suburbia, there you could get a studio for 125000. In this area for 400000 USD you can get a nice house instead of a condo.

I live in a real cheap place, my one bedroom appartment (50square meters) cost less then 20000 euros.

Btw. Great view indeed!

christine: The way we look at it, if we manage to endure all this we can face whatever comes our way.

hayden: Hehehehe Glad I picked this one instead of a photo from the edge. Thanks.

shyha: I wish housing here were that cheap. From the photos I remember you're apartment is rather nice, even if it is small.

ale: Sure. Thinking of moving here?

isis: I've been checking your blog every now and then. I promise to stop being a lurker and comment more... nice to have you back here too.

Two weeks for DSL? Isn't that a bit unreasonable? ;) In Hawaii sometimes you have to wait a couple of months if you hook up a phone to a brand new house.

GG: Great! Then you'll be able to listen to the music I post and lot more stuff all over the web!

Kris: It all comes down to a state owned monopoly on telephone infra-structures. No competition leaves room to lousy service an no alternative.
