Largo Dr. José de Figueiredo
Just another of Lisbon's squares, near the ancient art museum.
The simple coblestone all around town is probably one of the reasons this city seems so bright.
This pic was taken several weeks ago. By now the square is filled with food stands, decorations for the nightly dances and all the things that make Lisbon's festivities.

The "marchas populares" (the Lisbon parade?) has been qualified as one of the best festivals in Europe by a Dutch magazine (the criteria being size, continuity (since 1934), creativity, organisation and spectator impact.
Do you watch the "marchas" in Lisbon or do you follow in on TV? do you still support the Graca team?
Well, i will be glued to the TV tonight to watch the Angola-Portugal match...
Well, there is one football fan at last!
45 minutes to go!
Good luck, Portugal!
nyasha: I don't watch the marchas on TV, but I've watched it on the street several times. As for wanting for Graça to win... I do, but it is kind of tricky. Several of my friends dance for Graça, but there are also a number of friends dancing for Penha, Sé, Castelo, Mouraria and Alfama. To make it even worst Alfama's marcha is organized by a club where I used to practice gymnastics when I was a kid, plenty of friends there too. So if Graça doesn't win my second choice is any of the ones mentioned.
cream: Lousy game. We won, the three points are ours, but still it was a lousy game.
it was a lousy game ;) i should have turned off the tv at 5 minutes into the game. The rest of the 85 minutes was a waste of time. Cristiano Ronaldo lost at least 5 good opportunities... but hey i digress.... :)
i love european squares. just the idea -- a meeting of people over food, wares, conversation, etc. lovely picture.
and what a beautiful square it 'tis!
nyasha: Pauleta also missed a few close ones. Oh well, lets see what happens next.
vesparosso: It would be nicer to take a picture of the decorations, but I really don't have the time now. Maybe next year.
bess knees: You'd love it here. And it would remind you of San Fran.
