Lisbon Bagpipers
Lisbon is a city famed by its bagpipers. Throughout the centuries these bagpipers were among everybody’s favorite bagpipers due to the fact they are so silent most people thought there were no bagpipers in Lisbon, unlike many other cities where the inhabitants curse their bagpipers like Aboyne, Aberdeen or Edinburgh in Scotland, Vigo in Spain and Mirandela in Portugal.
Ok, I’ll cut the con short: the only Lisbon Bagpipers are an awesome band that started in 1991.
These guys play bagpipes, has could be easily guessed by their name, but they also play archaic instruments from the Iberian peninsula, African instruments, Oriental instruments, everything that can be used to produce music in short.
They claim to be always on the look for new sounds, but besides searching new sounds they also revive old and sometimes forgotten sounds. A great musical project.
Some people accuse them of having a twisted sense of humor... maybe that is one of the reasons I love their music.

I've never really had an affinity for the babpipes. Something about the sound that pushes me to the edge of having a seizure.
No knowledge of it. :(
But hey congrats. Portugal is through to play in the world cup.
I am loving the crazy bagpipes. They remind me of that band in The Empire Strikes Back
bent: These guys are not the usual bagpipe band. But I reckon some people are simply allergic to pipes.
how nice you just keep "sneaking" in those lessons :) love it.
I love bagpipes. I heard some Scottish fellas here, in Guyana, some years back.
That experimental thing the Lisbon Bagpipers do sounds interesting.
I saw on tv some young fellas use buckets, brushes, mop handles to create rythmn. Wonderful.
