Engine Starter

After much said about coffee on several blogs I've decided to share with you my every-day double espresso engine starter.
Share the looks of it, that is.
I'm afraid I can't post the sweet aroma of this Brazilian coffee nor its exquisite bitterness.
I simply can't leave home without having one such coffee.
Good Half can't leave home without having at least one either, although she usually has two.
Of course as soon as I get to work, just before entering the building I stop at one of the pastry shops to have another espresso.
Inside the building we have two espresso machines on every floor, in case of urgent need for more coffee.

Tomorrow is a national holiday here in Portugal so this is not as bad a Monday as usual, it's like half Monday half Friday.
Tomorrow is also the day the egg I "stole" from Carrie will hatch...

Dear coffee drinkers, what happens one day if you don't drink coffee?

I'm like Shyha, can't drink coffee, stomach issues. Plus tea for me tastes better.

I must go check out that egg.

And by the way, if you think coffee addiction is bad...well D, check out mine today on my blog :-D

Typing this post and listening to Valsa do Olhar... Great!

orange: Here in Portugal you can have a good espresso everywhere! :)

shyha: How is it possible not to like coffee?!?!? Oh well, but I guess it's for the best, it would be worst if you did like it and still couldn't have it.

ariadne: Any plans for the future or are you planning to enjoy your freedom and postpone all the rest?

GG: The day only starts after drinking coffee. So if I couldn't have a coffee tomorrow nor the day after November would start on the 3rd and October would have an extra long 31st! And who said coffee addiction is bad?

cream: Glad you like it. It was written (music and lyrics) and it's sung by my former college TUNA.

Stop it, what with the beaches and the proper coffee, you're torturing me...
Lovely coffee is the one thing I miss the most about living in Spain.

I think I've only ever had about 2 cups of coffee, neither of which I managed to finish! I just don't get the fascination!

Forgive my ignorance, but isn't expresso different from regular coffee?

I LOVE coffee (from grounds in a tin can off a grocery store shelf) but expresso makes my esophagus shrivel.

cadiz: Does that mean you're one of those people who stay up all night if they drink a coffee?

Chill daddy: The difference between espresso and other coffee is that to make a proper espresso you heat the water until it vaporizes and then you pressurize it (up to some 15 bar) and only then do you pass the vapor through the coffee. This way the caffeine extraction is more efficient.

That looks lovely. I like your photography.
Your blog is one of my ways of winding down actually - By the time I am on this blog it means one thing - I am through for the day and relaxing. Not quite like a morning cup of coffee, but just as significant.

(Actually I am heading to the stove to put some water on. Thanks for the inspiration!)

tall glass: That sounds delicious as a treat, but for morning coffee I need a black espresso. Poored over ice, you say? Got to try it.

lisa: Glad to know that. It's funny though, because most of the time I write here I'm doing just a small pause at work or working at home.
