The cows are coming!
Starting on the 14th of May Lisbon will be invaded by cows! The Cow Parade is coming to Portugal!I didn't make it to the pre-exhibition so I couldn't see all the cows together, but I already had plans to 'hunt' them around town, hopefully I'll get a couple of nice pix to post later on.
I didn't enter the competition, nonetheless here is DCveR's Mummy Cow.

Cool! This started in Chicago in 99. The reason it was cows is because it is kind of a legend that it was a cow who knocked over a lantern that started the great Chicago fire of 1871. The entire city had to be rebuilt, which is the reason why Chicago today is one of the most important cities in the US. (And a city that I tenho muitisssssssimos saudades for!)

portuguesa nova: Actually Chicago 1999 was the second cow parade. The original one was the year before in Zurich, Switzerland. The idea was conceived by Beat Seeberger-Quin, a Swiss artist. I guess he has chosen cows because they are all over their country...

We had cows in Manchester about two years ago. They were all over the city and everyone loved them. They went away of course. Boo hoo. Glad they've made their way to Lisbon. At the very least the weather's much nicer.
dan: Now you have metal men at the beach. Every year something new, no need to cry for the lost cows. ;)

You have a point there. Never thought of it that way, fibre glass cows replaced by metal men. Whatever next! I feel a blog coming on...
