Although Portugal is supposed to be a country of sailors I am not one of them.
I can't sail, although I used to like being a passenger every now and then.
"Used to" because it's been quite a long time since I last went for a sail.
Still sometimes when I am in a marina I feel like getting on a boat and setting off to some far away place.
Most likely that far away place would be the bottom of the Ocean given my lack of sailing skills.

How about a row boat? That should be easy, even if you don't know to row you can go around in circles :-D

I used to go sailing in Jamaica...that is, I sat in the boat while others did the hard work. Wonderful!

Row boat? That I can do. Without going around in circles. Can't say I like much though.

DC, you're too harsh on yourself! You are still young enough to learn how to sail without hitting rock bottom!
I dreamt a long time ago of owning my own yacht but nowadays, I'd rather take a ferry!

Word Verification: Icarvs! He never learnt to fly let alone sail!

I've always wanted to live on a sail boat and be nomadic for a few years. The difficulty is that they are a lot of work, and I'm quite clear that I don't want to do it.

Big boats yes, little boats no, I tried sailing toppers once and couldnt even get in the thing. Do dive though, would have to get the wetsuit on pretty quick...

sometimes i wonder about my heritage as well. being portuguese and not liking to be inside boats at all - i can canoo fine but i hate cruises or even taking the liner across the channel from Calais to Dover...
Infante Dom Henrique would have never enlisted my services!
never say: desta agua não beberei. Next year at this time you will be posting about your sailing trip around the world SOLO!!!

cream: The biggest snag is that I lack the will to learn how to sail. I enjoy being a passenger but that is about it.

hayden: Same problem here, too many things to learn and after that too much work, on a boat there is always something to repair.

CR: Diving, caves... you really are the underground kind heh? ;)

ale: By boat? Somehow it's easier to imagine you on a big cruise ship than on a tiny sail boat...

starlet: Seasickness is nasty, fortunately I've only had that once.

bees knees: LOL Some pirate indeed!!!

coffee addict: Don't bet your money on it. :)

TGOV: Is it just my imagination or you're starting to plan something on the line of taking S to a desert island or a small secluded bay? ;)

Hopefully, living near a big lake, I will be able to afford a boat some day. I do enjoy being on or near the water
