Armed robbery at a pharmacy in Malta. They took the money from the register and snatched an old lady's purse. Then returned the purse to the poor old lady. The keyword being: poor.
Well... I've seen some honest people who just don't have a heart inspite of respecting the law... and it's sad the same way. Leaves the question: what's worse, breaking the law or having no heart ?
ariadne: Law compensates for the lack of moral and ethical principles. The less respect people have for each other the more laws they need. Breaking those laws is a sign of disrespect for everybody. Can you love someone without respect? What good is a heart with no love?
In Kona last week, someone broke into a very established surf shop and stole all kinds of stuff. But the worst thing they did was strangle the shop owner's parrot, his beloved pet that he had had 25 years. He was devastated. Who would do such an inhuman thing? As the shopkeeper was quoted... "Take what you want, but why did you have to kill my bird?"
Very sad, and scary for Kona. But they will find the people who did this, as it is a small Big Island, and everyone talks.
kris: I thought the only bad areas in Hawaii were in Honolulu. That part about the parrot is sick, but probably they did it so the bird wouldn't give them away. Parrots can be worst than an alarm, their batteries won't go off.
Dc: you know! You might be right... maybe they were worried it would squawk? But it happened in a retail/tourist area (Ali'i Drive) so probably no one was around to hear anyway... It is such a shame, and the shopowner is heartbroken. We get the occasional spate of crime here, but often they find the culprits right away. Ironically, a lot of the criminals are related to the cops!
kris: Related to the cops? Weird, to say the least. Or maybe not. After all cops and robbers usually know each others, and being that a small place... Still, sounds a bit strange.
It was time this blog had it’s own fineprint: Site optimized for browsers with a sense of humor. Best viewed after the third or fourth drink, blurry
after the tenth or so. Criticism taken from those proven worthy, all others may take their chance at their own risk. Whatever you do don't take everything at
face value and most of all respect the opinions and beliefs of others.

Which reminds me, my grandfather used to say Robin Hood was nothing but a vagabond and a rogue.
GG: Smooth talking thief, but nonetheless still a thief. :)
isis: Maybe that is why some crooks get elected here. Some people do admire robbers!
Yeah, con artists = smooth talking crooks.
