What the hell went wrong with islam?
In the european dark ages, the countries of the Islam were an oasis of tolerance, knowledge and even hygiene.
As Europe emerged from the middle ages, as the renaissance begun, the arab world started collapsing, culturally speaking.
The amazing thing is this is something that in the dark ages one could expect to happen in Europe, not in a country of the islam. Mankind, in some ways seems to be regressing instead of evolving…

Religions that see woman as second class citizens and "property" suck ass. I'm so fed up with it.
I agree that religion has no place in politics, unless you happen to live in a theocracy. Then, I can see it. BTW, women aren't too well off here in American, either. If the Bush Admin has their way, women will all be back in the kitchen slapping a pie together just before they serve coffee to the Very Important Males in the family.

What? That bit sounded nice, in a way.
Come to think of it, that happens in some places here in Portugal, even in some of our friends houses.
In about four years the rights of American women will be no better than the rights of the Middle Eastern women we are supposedly liberating.
