God’s fiery hand?

In Brezovica, a small village in Slovenija, during a funeral, a lightning struck a metal cross, killing the poor man that was holding it.
It is scientifically understandable, that is true.
It is not like something out of a clear blue sky.
But it really makes you wonder… come on, anyone who dares to say the idea of God’s punishment didn’t pop into mind is probably lying.
Or maybe not…
I don’t know, who am I to judge you people…

Hmm... perhaps the man holding the cross was responsible for the other guy's death.

I see it as coincidence. More than likely, its just happenstance. Albeit weird, but a fluke nonetheless. In my opinion.

scubes - hardly think so

ms bk - wrong place, wrong time

bent - nah, otherwise I'd be toast by now

Weird how our mind plays tricks on us...
One big pole with a metal tip (cross shapped or not), a thunderstorm, it is an accident waiting to happen, we all know that.

And that's why, when it rains, I'm terrified of walking with an umbrella that has a metal stick, even if the handle is plastic or wood. Isn't it silly, that they make umbrellas with metal poles?

That metal cross was an accident waiting to happen.

Oh, a sudden death. The metal cross did a work of the lightning conductor. Poor man! Well, maybe it was a masterplan. We cannot know for certainly. Anyway, I believe in God's punishment and benefit. In some cases death is just the beginning.

GG - you can always try and get someone taller than you to carry another umbrella a few steps behind you ;)

anna - I don't know, with all the good people that die young and all the bad people that die of old age? Some masterplan... If it is so He really works in misterious ways!

Dcver, the someone taller always hogs the umbrella, so being the little tyrant that I am, I insist on carrying it haha...

I think God was pissed off, because the guy had been taking his name in vain. A lot of people do that these days, and they'll all get struck by lightning eventually, mark my words.

If you haven't read The Crow Road by Ian Banks, you should check it out. It's a great, multi-layered story and one character (I'm not saying whom) meets a somewhat similar fate, albeit in a much more dramatic fashion. Your post just reminded me of the book.

dcver - yeah, really. Sometimes His plans look really mysterious... Because you know, you can often think 'WHY?' And maybe will never get the answer. But at the same time if you will try to understand better - maybe you will find a solution. I think so. I wonder how my life changes sometimes. Sometimes it goes to the path I did not expected. But then... after some time I realize: 'Hmm.. that's it. As it should be'. I often think that every thing and event has it's own place. Sometimes it's better to take it as it comes (like Jim Morrison sang... hehe...)
