Dark Side Award # 2

The "Nemo Fishsticks Award" goes for PETA.

PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) wants fish stricken off the menu in Aquarium of Pacific, the biggest aquarium in the US, located on Long Beach.

In the words of the manager of the Fish Empathy Project, serving fish is like serving “poodle burgers at a dog show”.
In my words: “what the heck is this?! Some kind of sick joke?”
A few things you should know before I go on:
I like vegetarian food.
I do several vegetarian meals per week.
I have nothing against vegetarians.
This said, I can add: we are at the top of the food chain.
In nature bigger animals eat smaller animals, it is not “cruel”, it is how the world works.
Not my fault. Not anybody’s fault. Just how nature is.
Some people think that sucks. OK. I think gravity sucks, if you ask me! That doesn’t mean I can “call it off” and fly away.
Fish is healthy food. What do these people want the aquarium to serve? Only junk food? Or just a salad bar? Do they want to force everybody to become vegetarians?
Most of the visitants of an aquarium are children. Children need to have fish in their diet. Unless of course one prefers to stuff those children with supplement pills.
This all thing reminds me of a court case last year, here in Portugal: a child was taken from her vegetarian mother, because the mother, a vegan, would refuse to feed the children properly.
This mother wouldn’t give meat, fish or any animal derivative to her child.
The child was obviously undernourished. She was starving the child, though she was ‘feeding’ her.
She was told so, yet she kept refusing to change her attitude. Fortunately the court acted in time, the little three years old had to stay in a hospital for six months before being taken by her aunt, a more reasonable person.
PETA’s representative’s words make as much sense as saying the aquarium is teaching the children ‘every fish is the same as the next fish and it’s all food’.
This is exactly the opposite an aquarium does.
If they are against the idea some fish aren’t food but other fish ARE indeed food, then they will have to agree every plant is food, which is great by me.
Come over and I’ll toss a salad for you PETA folks: just don’t complain if some of the plants are somewhat poisonous, after all, if every fish is the same not-food-thingy, then every plant is edible, right?

It seems to me that some fish eat other fish - why shouldn't we?

At least most of us aren't cannibals!

...poodle burgers at a dog show. LOL! That is too funny.

I'm a pollo vegetarian but I don't expect the world to eat by my standards.

PETA has the right idea, but damn, they go to extremes too often.

It's all because of that movie 'Finding Nemo'. I knew it would happen one day.

All of the fish in the aquarium should be put on a vegetable diet IMMEDIATELY! Imagine the trauma if a child saw one part of the exhibit eat the other part! For shame!
