Featured photo

The not so adventurous or beautiful everyday scenes, as seen by the cell phone's camera.
Commuting, a reality common to so many other millions of people around the globe.
For me it is a 20 min ride by train.
Still I am lucky enough to travel mostly in off hours, either later or sooner than most other commuters.

what makes or breaks the commute are the people commuting with you... next time can you snap a photo of the people?? i want to check if they're ugly or not... :)

so what do you read when you commute?

iluvnyc: Not that good, bad thanks.

ale: Taking a snapshot of strangers with a cell phone is not that good an idea. One of these days with my tele, zoom is safer. And the answer to you is nothing. Nada. Zero. Most people read newspapers. I don't like to get my hands black with newspaper ink (much better to read news online), I don't usually buy magazines and a good book is to be enjoying in a quite place, not a train. At least not by me. Sometimes I listen to mp3, sometimes I simply enjoy the view, sometimes I fall asleep.

Oh, I love-love-love the train! I live in a small town, so I only get to ride the train when I go to Chicago. Like DCvR, I don't read anything. It is entertainment enough just looking around me at all the people. :)

BTW, I love the composition of this photo how the curves are bisected by the supports - exquisite! Curves are great aesthetically, you know. I think is does something calming to the mind.

bunny jo: Soothing curves... now that is the fastest way to get a guy's dirty mind working!

I don't like your photo because it's sunny in Lisbon while here the weather is crap!
Commuting... 5 minutes down the road! Love it!

somehow i KNEW it- i figured the train is just not sexy enough place for you to read in!

-for me oposite- the ONLY time i can concentrate on a books/newpapers is in a train!! if its too quiet i can't read-

-although... VOGUE i must read in a nice quiet comfortable place.... hmmm

bees knees: What about parking? SF is terrible for parking.

phoenix: Take a look at the new N90 by Nokia, that is a lot better than this one.

nat: Thanks.

cream: A little stroll down the street is not what most people call commute.

ale: Of course when we start talking long trips by train the story changes completely.

isis: In Portland you have buses like in most other cities and you have MAX (the lightrail). But you can give it all a good look here.

My Motorola cameraphone sucks too, and they charge you $3.99 to send one, forget it.

I've had the fun of recently taking trains in England (the Tube) and in Chicago (the "El.") I love trains!

penny: Can't really say I enjoy the usual interaction with other people in public transportation. When it is rush hour the last thing you want to is talk to someone who is almost on your lap. When it is not I get to ride an almost empty train, subway or bus.

kris: Trains are great for longer trips. Fair enough you don't get to your destination as fast as with a plane, but you get to see a lot more and you can stand and walk about unlike in a car or bus.
